About Fiona

Fiona Millward ImageI was fortunate to have been raised by a family who were passionate about being active. Movement has therefore been a part of my life from a very young age and remains the foundation of all of my work. It has been a privilege to work as teacher, performer, and choreographer over the past 37 years, and to be able to bring those experiences into my work with people in various capacities.

As part of my commitment to the development of training within movement for professional contemporary dance artists, I co-directed alongside Gill Clarke the professional training programme Independent Dance from 1996-2015.

As part of my ongoing movement practice I have always included, and benefitted enormously from, a range of somatic approaches such as: Feldenkrais Method, Rolf Movement, Alexander Technique, Klein Technique, Body Mind Centering, Hanna Somatics, Franklin Method, and Scaravelli Yoga.

With the desire to create an integrated and wholistic approach to all of my work, a deep respect and love for the resilience and mystery of the body, and a curiosity about how we move through life – I have also delved more deeply into, and am a qualified practitioner of, the following approaches to working with the body:

Therapeutic Massage Practitioner USA and UK (ITEC)
Franklin Method™ Educator Level 1&2
Certified Rolfer™
Rolf Movement™ Practitioner
Sharon Wheeler ScarWork™ Therapist
Scaravelli Inspired Yoga Teacher
Somatics Exercise Coach (Hanna Somatics)
